Authentic Edo period, 1814, re-strike Japanese erotic art shunga woodblock print picture (not a cheap lithograph nor a simple copy) by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849). This re-strike woodblock print is from 2020 and was printed by Yamamoto. There are ONLY two Hokusai Octopus Shunga WOODBLOCK PRINT remakes, and this rendition here is considerably aesthetically more pleasing than the one put out by a different publisher in 2018, which has, in all honesty, a fat white line - referred to as "the gutter" - running down the middle of the picture, essentially ruining it in my opinion. Not here, as this 2020 re-strike is just as large and gorgeous as the Edo Period original, and of course, in perfect condtion with excellent colors and impressions! No backing. Please see and judge from photos provided.
Shunga woodblock print picture measures approximately 24 cm x 34 cm.
A fantastic shunga woodblock print picture of the most famous & iconic shunga in history, Hokusai's "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife." If you still don't own the best re-strike woodblock print classic since the original itself, now is your chance - at several thousand dollars less!
